Following is a set of Strategy statements from a Telecom carrier Merger scenario: 1) “In response to the dramatic change in the Telecommunications and Media sector we will offer High speed data services over Broadband, VoIP and IPT offering with high speed access to these services anytime anywhere” 2) “In order to reduce demand on call centres we will need to enable customers to do more for themselves via the web – for example to subscribe to new services, change their service packages and resolve their own Billing enquiries” 3) “Our Legacy systems of 5 Billing Systems, 7 CRM’s and multiple...

In fact, best and most popular Process Methodology (& frameworks) have collectively failed CEOs time and again as most process frameworks are devoid of insight to Enterprise Anatomy and its impact in handling change. We have found the use of Enterprise Architecture as a solid basis for business process improvement. It helps in creating necessary process primitives and underlying anatomy. If you need to support your CEO's new goal of increasing revenue in the next quarter, then you must look inside processes across 10-11 departments such as Sales, Marketing, Customer Support, Product development, Product/Service Delivery, Technology Management, HRD, Finance, Account Management, Quality,...

In my professional journey, one common factor was the buzzwords around process improvement. The rampant and frenzied explosion of process methodology (over 300-400 methodology) and frameworks have not simplified the life of business leaders. In fact, best and most popular Process Methodology (Frameworks) have collectively failed them again and again. In Nov 2014, Chief Executive magazine reported that nearly 90% of the CEO's have failed to meet their target. Nearly, 40 CEOs in the Retail industry (in US alone) are replaced in 2014 that include likes of Walmart, Barnes & Noble, GAP, etc. You will agree that none of these 40...

It's interesting to see that "Business Architecture" is getting recognized as a critical element for enterprise survival, as well as growth. Unfortunately, hardly 10% of the Business Strategies are getting translated into operation (of that, what percentage is efficient...is anyone's guess?). Before we discuss in detail, let me share a short definition of Business Architecture. The Business Architecture is the basis of defining and managing a business entity. It helps in defining the functional structure of an enterprise in terms of its business services, business information, business timing cycles, business locations and business stakeholders for achieving business goals. Business Architecture models...

Read on and discover how the Zachman Framework can help you in ways you may not have considered before. I consider the Zachman Framework an essential tool for building a wining business case and getting the funding you need. If answer is Yes, then join us for this webinar and learn why you are earning only 20% value out of your Business Architecture. No doubt, use of MS Word, PPT, Excel are great tools and they aid in understanding. But, they have serious limitations when we want to use them as "diagnostic tool". Learn about seven engineering dimensions which are critical in decision making. It's important to model strategy and business concepts (specifications ) for analysis and create “same format” view of the business strategy, business process etc. Imagine what happens to "end to end" traceability if your business process...

In my earlier days, I was amazed to see the number of management and strategy frameworks. Even today, it's surprising to find that strategy models continue to be one of the least formal.  Very often available in installments of excel and PPT files, to be used at your own risk. In fact, there is NO version control or baseline for the strategy models. Try asking a Sales  Director to share sales strategies deployed by company 2 years prior to his joining when the revenue was at peak? If you are lucky, you might get a one page note in some magazine...

CEOs are investing a great deal in formulating winning strategies. Unfortunately, outcomes are not a pleasant experience. Globally, organizations are working on offsetting economic dampening behaviour with  new products and services in regular interval.  Very often, results are  not favorable due to inherent business complexity and associated business structure. As a result, even incremental changes are expensive and time-consuming. In absence of "Business Architecture", business strategy is just a mismanaged carnival of descisions that is desperate for revenue. "Business Architecture" is an evolving discipline which empowers decision makers with "Visual Intelligence." Using "Visual Intelligence," business managers can understand anatomy of business...
