Project Title
Equitable Digital Access For Students
Project Description
New Zealand has 800,000 school age children across 2,500 schools living in around 400,000 households. Whilst all schools in New Zealand enjoy access to free ultra-fast fibre-based broadband internet, up to 100,000 school age children living in 40,000 households do not have home internet access, this accounts for approximately 30% of digital divide challenge in our nation. This digital divide not only disadvantages those who do not have access to the internet but also prevents teachers employing modern pedagogical techniques where a portion of students do not have access to the internet at home. The goal of the Equitable Digital Access for Students programme is to address this gap, providing a sustainable solution for students to access safe internet where ever they are, any time, replicating the same experience they have at school.
